Daniel Udoh Post Bolton Wanderers

30 December 2019

Daniel Udoh reflects on Town's 1-1 draw at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Shrewsbury Town ended the year with an away point after securing a second-half equaliser at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Despite going a goal down, Town fought back against Bolton Wanderers and found the back of the net in the 53rd minute through Daniel Udoh.

Udoh was pleased to have helped his team secure a point but felt Town could have done more to grasp all three against 10-men Bolton. He said: “The reaction in the dressing room is we feel we have dropped two points with Bolton going down to 10-men.

“We started well in the first 10 minutes but didn’t really do much after that. In the second-half, we played good football that we know we can play - we just didn’t make the most of that.

“It has been tough for me, I haven’t scored a goal since August but that’s what the striker is there to do – thank God I did that. Hopefully I can get more goals now. I am delighted that the manager gave me an opportunity to play. Hopefully, in the New Year, we can push on as a team.

“All of the lads feel like we have dropped two points. We were constantly in their half and their keeper made two terrific saves. Fair play to him, but we should have done better.”

Udoh has been pleased with Salop’s start to the season as the Shrews sit in mid-table. The Salop forward feels the team can push on and achieve more good results in the New Year.

“We are in the mix and we have a good group of lads,” said the striker. “We have a good manager, good backroom staff and we are going in the right places – long may that continue.

“Our next game is another good game. We will go out there and just play how we know how to play. Away from home we are really good. We showed what we can do in the second-half today and if we take that to Bristol City, I’m sure we will be fine.

“God knows how many fans we had in Bolton. It’s good to have fans like that, especially when things get tough. I’m sure the away end in Bristol will be packed and they will be pushing us on.

“I am just a player who wants to work hard and make sure I don’t leave any stone unturned. I want to give my best for the fans and for the team. The fans push us through.”
