Ollie Norburn Pre Rotherham United

Ollie Norburn previews Town's Boxing Day fixture with Rotherham United.

Shrewsbury Town welcome Rotherham United to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this Boxing Day for another Sky Bet League One fixture.

Town will be looking to make it a third consecutive win with a result over the Millers following on from Town’s 0-1 win over Blackpool.

Town midfielder Ollie Norburn is looking forward to the contest on Boxing Day and expects a tough test from the visitors.

“We played them early on in the season and made it hard for them,” said Town’s number eight. “We created our own chances that day and it could have gone our way.

“That game was away from home and obviously we will be at home on Boxing Day. We will be looking to take the game to them but teams won’t be looking forward to playing against us.

“Teams know we are a tough opposition for anyone. Against the so-called better teams in the league, we up our game that little bit more. In the Blackpool game, the three points and the performance was good and we want to do that again.

“We have shown what we are capable of at times against tough teams and it’s just a matter of carrying that on. We have a great dressing room, we are all together and know what we are capable – that shows in games.”

Norburn has been pleased with Town’s recent performances and hopes the team can continue picking up points over the Christmas and New Year period.

“Recent results have been massive,” said Norburn. “Christmas is a busy period and one that we are looking to pick up points in. We are in a good position in the league and we are looking to keep climbing.

“A massive thing this season has been sorting our a defensive base. We have managed to do that, our foundation is solid which we didn’t have last season. We are more solid and hard to play against.

“Recent results give everyone a confidence boost but we know we can compete against anyone. We are solid, we work from a good strong base and we aren’t nice to play against – we make it hard for teams.

“As a squad, we are together and the team spirit is really good. Moral in the camp is good and we are looking forward to a busy Christmas period.”
