Anthony Grant reflects on Town's 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers

Shrewsbury Town secured three points this afternoon with a 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers.

Town scored two first-half goals through Josh Laurent and Tyrese Campbell, which saw Town earn back-to-back wins.

Anthony Grant was delighted with Town's performance over the 90 minutes.

“It was a very good performance," said Grant to Shrewsweb. "I thought we came out of the starting blocks well, we deserved the two goals and could have got more.

“It was comfortable but we knew they were a top six team, so they were always going to come out and produce. We just had to stand up to the pressure."

Grant was asked why he thought Town haven’t always produced the results they were capable of achieving.

“It’s just consistency of the players," said Grant. "The gaffer is trying to drill that into the boys and we’re slowly getting there, working hard on the training field and getting the results on the pitch.”

“The fans have been good I’ve taken to them and they’ve taken to me. I just try to do my best and hopefully, that rubs off on the young ones.”

Jokingly Grant also mentioned how he believes he’s the most fouled player in the league.

“Someone tweeted me the other day, saying I was third and then after the last 3 games I’m now on top. Lenny always mentions it to me.

“When you’re under the cosh free kicks help you to slow the game down and that’s what I try to do.

“People just can’t get near me,” Grant joked. “I’m an old man and people still can’t get near me.”

Grant was frustrated to learn that he will miss Town’s next two games after picking up 10 yellow cards.

“Yes, the next two games but obviously we’ve got Norburn to come back in so hopefully he can come back and we can still push on.”

A goal is something Grant feels he needs to add to his game.

“I’m probably the top five shooters at the club so I think I need a goal and deserve a goal. But I’m happy to leave the goal scoring to the strikers.

“All of our strikers have got different attributes and we work on all of them in training. Then you’ve got Norbs, Doc and Josh who have all scored goals this season.”
