Mat Sadler Post Luton Town

3 February 2019

Mat Sadler reflects on Town's disappointing afternoon against Luton Town.

Shrewsbury Town were unable to find a return to winning ways after a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Luton Town.

The inform Luton side came to the Montgomery Waters Meadow and managed to take all three points.

Town captain Mat Sadler was disappointed with the result and expected a tough test from the inform Luton Town.

“It’s not a pleasant feeling being out on that pitch when you’re three nil down,” said Mat.

“I don’t think there is a case to over analyse the game. The fact is we lost by three goals.

“We were poor in our box and didn’t do enough in their box. Ultimately on the day they looked like the team fighting at the top end of the table.

“Goals like the second one seem to go in when you’re at the top end of the table.

“I said in the dressing room ‘this needs to be a point of no return. We have 16 league games left and we need to pull it all together’.

“We know what we are going forward with now the transfer window is closed and we have to find a way to win games.”

Mat was disappointed with the goals conceded and feels the Town defence need to do better.

“The freedom they had, the fact we didn’t pressure the ball and the header in the box was disappointing,” said Mat.

“It was like piggy in the middle- straight over my head and into him. It wasn’t a pleasant goal.

“All we can do now is look back at it and try to improve and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“We are concerned because we are 23rd but positive because there is plenty of time to get out of it.

“I believe the only way of getting out of these situations is with every singe person being together.

“It’s not a pleasant scenario to be in but the only way of turning it around is by doing better in the last 16 games.”
