Sam Ricketts reflects on a disappointing afternoon for Town.
Shrewsbury Town were unable to find a return to winning ways after a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Luton Town.
The inform Luton side came to the Montgomery Waters Meadow and managed to take all three points.
Sam was disappointed with the result and feels his team were well in the game during the first-half.
“I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but there wasn’t much in the first-half,” said Sam
“We still weren’t at the level I want us to be, but there wasn’t anything in the half.
“We can’t give goals away like we did. Once the second goal went in, which was a comical goal, we lost our togetherness and belief.
“It was disappointing. We spoke in the dressing room after the game about what that effect has on the team.
“We also spoke about how we are going to get out of this. Nothing is going to happen by it’s self.
“As a group we have to stick together, the players need to stick together but they must put in sheer effort, aggression and intensity into the games.
“First-half there wasn’t much really in it and we had opportunities but couldn’t score.”
Sam was disappointed with the goals conceded and feels his team could have done more to get at the opposition.
“They had a free header and a tap in,” said Sam. “I don’t think we really got after them and we didn’t really get around the pitch.
“We were hesitant. We have to work hard and hit the number targets physically which we set.
“They had extremely good fortune for the second goal. He crossed it and it went in – that’s when you know it really isn’t going to go your way.
“We have to keep fighting. You can’t do anything about when things go against you, but you can work your way through it.
“There is only one way to work through it and that’s with hard work – fortune and luck will come with it.”
