Sam Ricketts Post Peterborough United

23 February 2019

Sam Ricketts reflects on Town's away win over Peterborough United.

Shrewsbury Town ran out 2-1 winners over Peterborough United at the ABAX Stadium.

Town secured the win with first-half goals from Tyrese Campbell and Ollie Norburn.

Sam was delighted with the win and hopes to see his team build on the result.

“I am obviously delighted with the win,” said Sam. “It has been really good to get a weeks training.

“It’s only the second time I have had a Saturday – Saturday game. You could see that in patches.

“I would have loved to have ran away with the game and scored a third goal and see the game out.

“On the same hand, you see the players determination and character all the way up until the end.

“Maddison, at this level, has got a Premier League delivery in his set pieces and you could see that in their goal.

“I was disappointed to concede off a set piece and it’s something I really want to knuckle down on and avoid it happening.

“To come back into the game as we did through a set piece of our own and making the extra man count was really pleasing as well.”

Sam was pleased with the contributions from Tyrese Campbell and hopes to see the young forward keep on netting goals.

“Tyrese has a calmness in front of goal,” said Town’s manager. “He can pass the ball into little corners.

“It was a well worked routine and it was an expert finish into the bottom corner. It was a really, really good goal.

“This game brings us back on to what we have been working on at the training ground.

“The players training this week has been excellent and we have had two of the best days since I have been here.

“We are three games unbeaten, so it’s not just the win. It helps us build momentum.”
