Sam Ricketts Pre AFC Wimbledon

Sam Ricketts looks ahead to Town's next Sky Bet League One fixture against AFC Wimbledon

Shrewsbury Town are back at the Montgomery Waters Meadow this Saturday as they face AFC Wimbledon in Sky Bet League One.

Town will be looking to make it three wins in a row and five games unbeaten on Saturday.

Sam Ricketts was pleased with his side's performance on Tuesday night and will be looking for more of the same on Saturday.

"I was delighted with the win," Sam told Shrewsweb. "Especially with the level of performance in the first half against a very good Doncaster side.

"it was the best half of football since I've been here, with our pressing, our aggression high up, winning the ball back and using the ball well to create several opportunities."

Sam mentioned how Tuesday night was a real example of what this squad can achieve.

"It was a really good step in the right direction, a really big improvement which comes off the back of a couple of weeks free from midweek games where I've been able to work with the players in training.

"It's a real positive and the best part is being able to show the players the difference the impact of training has."

Wimbledon are Town's next opponents. They sit bottom of Sky Bet League One but Ricketts is still expecting as tough of a test as the previous couple of games Town have played.

"It's a funny one because the perception will be Wimbledon are bottom of the table, but that's' probably because of their form at the start of the season.

"I went to watch them play Rochdale, and it was a really good win for them there, their performances have been very good.

"If you watched them now you certainly wouldn't put them bottom of the table, so we have to be very respectful of them still.

"They are good at moving the ball, they play a similar shape to us and a similar system, they're playing with some confidence because of their cup run. You don't beat West Ham if you're a bad team.

"We have to focus on ourselves and get another good performance in. We have to concentrate on us with and without the ball, if we do that then we've got a chance of making it 5 unbeaten.

"We're currently on our longest unbeaten run so far this season which shows you we're in a good place but you have to keep your foot on the pedal and keep pushing."
