Brad Walker Joins Town

9 January 2019

Young midfielder joins from Crewe and then goes out on loan to Wrexham

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the signing of Brad Walker for an undisclosed fee from Crewe Alexandra.

The midfielder, who also can play at centre-back, has put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half-year deal with a year option and will spend the remainder of the season on loan with Wrexham.

Brad was pleased to have signed the deal and is looking forward to working with the club.

“I am delighted to have the deal over the line,” said Sam’s new man. “It took some time to do it but we got it over the line and I can’t wait to get started.

“It was an easy decision to make. The gaffer wanted to bring me in and I obviously wanted to come here.

“It’s just a shame I can’t play until next season, but I was delighted to get it done.

“Sam was a big influence in my decision. I played with him at Wrexham and he liked how I play – he has been brilliant with me.”

The midfielder is looking forward to next season and is relishing the challenge of playing Sky Bet League One football.

“I have always wanted to test myself at the highest level possible and this is the highest I have been so far, so I can’t wait to get going.

“I definitely feel ready for the step up. I have played nearly 200 games in League Two and in the Conference. It’s worth a shot and hopefully I can progress.

“Playing games is the most important thing and hopefully I can come here and hit the ground running and get off to a good start.

“Obviously the fans aren’t going to see me until next season, but next year I am going to come back and hit the ground running to have a good season.

“I have loved my time at Wrexham and hopefully I can go back and help get the team promoted.”
