Greg Docherty pre Blackpool

Greg Docherty previews Town's trip to Blackpool.

Shrewsbury Town will return to league action with the weekend’s fixture against Blackpool.

Town will be looking to build on the last result against Stoke and will be aiming for three points against the Seasiders.

Greg Docherty was pleased with the result against Stoke and hopes to see a similar performance at Bloomfield Road.

“You could see everyone in the squad were delighted after the game,” said Greg.  “We needed it, considering the previous Saturday wasn’t good enough.

“We went out fighting in the second-half and we played with freedom. We scored three goals in 10 minutes – it was pretty special.

“When the final whistle went you could see all the celebrations.  As each goal went in we knew straight away that we were going to win it.

“It was pure elation – especially being in front of our own fans. It was brilliant and they made the difference.

“The fans pushed us all the way and you could still hear them when we were two goals down.

“It gave us a massive lift, it absolutely did. They got louder with each goal.

“The FA Cup now has to be put to the back of our minds and we need to focus on the league.

“We now need to build and there is no reason why we couldn’t have done it at the weekend.

“We need to keep that belief and we need to put a string of results together.”

The midfielder is expecting a tough test against Blackpool but feels his team have enough to take all three points on the road.

“Blackpool are in a decent position in the league,” said Greg. “They are a team who know how to win games once they are ahead.

“We know what to expect. They will be difficult to break down but we will go into it with confidence.

“We played them earlier on in the season but we weren’t good enough.

“It’s going to be interesting going to an away ground where it is 50/50. It will be great for so hopefully we can start well and get at them early.”
