Romain Vincelot joins Town

22 January 2019

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the signing of defensive midfielder, Romain Vincelot on a one-and-a-halfyear Contract.

Vincelot joins Town from Crawley where he signed in July last Summer. He made 12 appearances for the Sky Bet League Two side. The 33-year-old joins Town on a one and a half year deal.

Sam Ricketts who played with Vincelot during his time at Coventry expressed who pleased he was to welcome Romain to the club.

“Romain is a player who has got ability but he’s a player who plays with his heart and he’s a warrior who wants to win everything that he’s involved in and that mentality is really important.

“He’s coming with an attitude that he wants to come here and be successful and be part of something. That’s the desire and attitude I want to make us successful.

“He knows this level well, he knows what it takes. He does all of the side of the game that goes unnoticed well. Winning headers, tackles and breaking the game up. He’s a real competitor and gives his all every time he enters the field of play.

“He’s very versatile, so he can play as a centre half and midfielder. He can cover an awful lot of positions.

“I’ve brought him in because he’s a character more than anything, and with that he can play anywhere. He can fill in one position one week and another position another week. He’s not coming in with one position in mind he’s just good all round.

“He’s a player who’s had a great career, he’s professional and will lead by example. How he conducts himself, how he looks after himself, all of the extras such as the gym work. I want to create the right culture and environment.

“Experience is a big thing. If he can just come in and pass some knowledge onto the younger players that’s vitally important."
