Romain Vincelot on joining Town

Romain Vincelot gives his thoughts on joining Town.

Shrewsbury Town are pleased to confirm the signing of Romain Vincelot on a one-and-a-half-year deal.

Romain joins the club from Crawley Town as Sam Ricketts looks to bolster his squad.

Romain is pleased to have joined the club and is looking forward to working with Sam Ricketts.

“I am delighted to be here,” said Romain. “I’m really happy to be with Shrewsbury.

“I have been to the training ground and the stadium already, so I am very happy to be here.

“I know the manager, Sam Ricketts, I played with him at Coventry and I always thought he would be a very good manager.

“He was one of the reasons why I wanted to come here. I also wanted to come back to League One.

“I went down south for family reasons, but it didn’t work out as planned and now I feel good back in League One.”

The versatile player admits the Town manager was a big factor in his decision to join the club.

“Sam being here was the first thing I thought about,” said Romain. “He told me all about the good set up.

“He told me about the training ground and the stadium and how everyone at the club is working hard.

“I was just hoping this move could happen and thankfully it did.

“I have played in this division before, I have a few games behind me. I have been to two League One Play-Off finals with Leyton Orient and Bradford.

“I know the division very well – I have played many games. I am happy to be back here and to be able to share my experience and my hunger.

“I don’t want to be labelled as just an experience player because age is just a number. I do everything I can to be the fittest player and I take pride in that.

“I feel like I am still 27 – hopefully it can stay like this for many years. The experience is great and something that will help me.”
