Safe Standing Flags

25 January 2019

Supporters Parliament and club work together to bring flags to safe standing area

Shrewsbury Town and the Supporters Parliament have once again worked together on another initiative.

In place for Town’s FA Cup fixture against Wolves are a number of flags placed in blocks eight and nine of the Safe Standing area.

Town and the Supporters Parliament are pleased to have the flags in place and hope to see a good continued level of support in the area.

Mike Davis of the Supporters Parliament feels the flags will help the atmosphere as Town look to stage an upset against the Premier League’s Wolves.

“We were approached by the lads at the front of block nine with regards to getting some flags sorted out,” said Mike.

“With everything that has happened and us drawing Wolves it seemed like an ideal time to get the idea off the ground.

“We have a load of flags going into blocks eight and nine for Saturday’s game and we have also sorted out some more permanent flags for block nine.

“The flags that are being put out today can be used again so we hope they get used time and time again.

“We have 15 more permanent flags that have been provided in block nine to make it a long-standing thing.”

Mike feels any addition towards helping the atmosphere is always welcome and feels it can only benefit the team.

“The Safe Standing has been brilliant so far,” said Mike. “Everyone has commented on how it’s changed the dynamic of the stadium.

“We always said we would do everything we can to help that happen.

The football club have backed us in everything we have tried to do, so a massive thanks to them.”
