Sam Ricketts Pre Luton Town

31 January 2019

Sam Ricketts previews this weekend's visit of Luton Town.

Shrewsbury Town face another Sky Bet League One game with the visit of Luton Town this weekend.

Town will be searching for an immediate return to winning ways after disappointment away to Bradford.

Sam was disappointed with the result and hopes to see an improved result with the tie against the Hatters.

“The last game was really disappointing,” said Sam. “The performance wasn’t where I wanted it to be.

“I think we really struggled to go again after Saturday’s game. With so many games in a short space of time – we just couldn’t hit the intensity that we wanted to.

“When you are a few percent off mistakes happen and those mistakes get capitalised on.

“What I can’t fault is the character in the team to get back into the game. It was some achievement from where we were.

“We were bitterly disappointed in conceding another injury time goal. There were a lot of late goals this week.

“We are giving goals away in injury time which is costing us. It cost us a point there, it cost us in the FA Cup tie and cost us beating Peterborough.

“It’s unfortunate for Fejiri. He showed his quality – he is a goal scorer. He will score goals and as far as hat-trick’s go it was a good one.”

Sam is expecting a tough test from the visitors but feels his team have enough to secure three points.

“Luton are a good team who are in a good place,” said Town’s manager. “They had a great win against Portsmouth.

“They are settled in what they are doing and are in a good place. It’s a game to look forward to.

“We generally do better against the better sides, so it’s a game to look forward to and all the distractions will be gone.

“We will be set ready to go. We will have a game plan ready and we have to get back to zeros and ones to give us a chance of winning games.”
