Sam Ricketts previews Town's trip to the Bet 365 Stadium.
Shrewsbury Town take on Stoke City tomorrow evening in the third-round FA Cup replay fixture.
Town earned a 1-1 draw against the Potters last time out but were denied the win by a late Peter Crouch goal.
Town’s last result wasn’t pleasing for the Town manager, Sam Ricketts, and he feels the game is an opportunity to register an immediate response.
“In that second-half we were no where near where we want to be,” said Sam. “We were in control in the first-half.
“We actually had more shots than Charlton during the whole game but what we weren’t is clinical in that final-third.
“They have two very good forwards who managed to create chances themselves.
“Before their goal and after the goal, it was all us really. Pinning them in, shots and one or two chances came our way.
“The second-half was disappointing with how it unfolded. If we had carried on that first-half then we were always in the game.
“Charlton are a good side – don’t take anything away from them. They have arguably the best front two in the league.”
Sam is looking forward to the test of the away trip to the Bet 365 Stadium and hopes to see his team get a result.
“It will be interesting to see how Nathan puts his stamp on the team,” said Town’s manager.
“Will he go straight in like he did at Luton, or will he gradually evolve it? It looks like he wants to do it his way straight away.
“It’s still the same players and it will be a real tough game. They were a Premier League side last year and have Premier League players.
“We will be ready. We will have our game plan and we will give it our best shot.
“We need to do everything we can to try and win the game. If we can frustrate and not give them anything to get the crowd motivated – we have a chance.
“We did that at Sunderland, so there is no reason why we can’t go and do it again.”
