Shrewsbury Town are delighted to confirm the signing of Donald Love after he was released by Sunderland.
Love put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Town after completing his medical early this afternoon.
The 24-year-old is a right-sided defender and adds a great option to the Town defence.
Donald progressed through the Academy ranks at Manchester United and made appearances in the Carabao Cup and Europa League for United. He had a loan spell with Wigan Athletic and joined Sunderland in the summer of 2016. He has also played a number of times for the Scottish national side at U17, U19 and U21 level.
Town manager Sam Ricketts has been looking to bring Donald in for a while and is pleased to have finally got the deal done.
We grabbed a quick word with Sam in between training sessions in Portugal.
“I am delighted to have signed Donald”, said Sam.
“He is a young player with great potential and pedigree and adds more quality to our defence.
“His family live locally so it’s a perfect fit and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
We will speak with Sam more about this news early next week when we sit down to do press.
