Sam Ricketts looks ahead to Town's final pre-season friendly against Dundee United

Town will welcome Scottish Championship side Dundee United to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this Saturday where Sam Ricketts' side will look to build on positive performances against Aston Villa and Cheltenham Town and finish pre-season on a high.

Sam Ricketts spoke to the media this morning and stated that he was happy to have set up this fixture against a strong looking Dundee United squad.

"We're really pleased to get Dundee United to come down," Said Sam. "They've played three or four competitive games already, so they're into a really good rhythm.

"It will be a physical game and they should mirror the type of football that we'll expect to see during this season.

"Pre-season seems to be flying by. At one time Dundee United seemed weeks and weeks away now all of a sudden it's around the corner.

"We're going to able to get a couple of days training in between the Cheltenham game and Dundee United game where we'll look to continue to put things into place.

"We're still a working progress but we're trying to get there as quick as we can and keep improving all of the time."

Dave Edwards and Scott Golbourne made a return to first-team action on Tuesday night for the first time in several months. Sam Was pleased to see both players and the squad finish the game with no new knocks or injuries.

"Everyone has reported in well from Tuesday's game. That was one of the big positives coming out of the game really.

"There were different levels of Dave and Scott's return. We'll see how both of them react from that game as to how involved they will be going into Saturday's game. Hopefully, both will get a bit of action on the weekend."
