Town Defender Aaron Pierre spoke to Shrewsweb following Shrewsbury's closed training ground game against TNS.
Aaron Pierre scored Town's first goal in what finished a 2-1 victory to Town as Shrewsbury and TNS came together in a closed training ground fixture earlier this morning.
Similar to the rest of the squad Pierre played 45 minutes and made a big impact throughout his time on the pitch.
After the training game came to an end Pierre spoke to Shrewsweb about his brief time at the club and how he was settling in.
"It's been good," said Aaron. "The players have all been very welcoming, I've fit in straight away. The Gaffer and the staff have also been very welcoming. Everything is going as planned.
"I knew a handful of players before so that just makes things easier.
"My fitness is getting there, it's been difficult especially in the weather conditions today, it takes a massive toll on you but it's pre-season and that's what it's all about.
"It's always good to get on the score-sheet and kept a clean sheet whilst I was playing so it's double bubble for me.
"As a defender, it's very important for you to be vocal and control the defense and everyone in front of you. I'm just getting back into it as it's pre-season, what better way to practice that than in a friendly."
Aaron mentioned how pleased he was to have a manager that he can learn from in Sam that has played at the highest level as a defender.
"My ambition as well is to play at the highest level so with his guidance and his knowledge he'll make me better 100%. He's a great guy, he's welcomed me and he's always talking to me, helping me and showing me how he wants things so it's been good."
Aaron was also impressed with what he has seen so far with his defensive teamates.
"We're very strong, everyone's confident on the ball, everyone's a leader and knows what they're doing. It's all about putting a game plan together now and making sure we understand each other."
