Shrewsbury Town’s U18s will play a number of pre-season warm-up games during July as they prepare for the start of the league season.
The U18s will play three games in and around Shropshire before they travel to Scotland for a training camp. While in Scotland they have games with Newcastle United, St Mirren and Hearts.
Shrewsbury Town Academy Manager David Longwell is looking forward to welcoming the U18s back.
“The new scholars are coming in and we’ve got a decent pre-season programme set for them”, said David.
“We are trying to change a little bit in the way we play and a lot of that work will be done in pre-season in the way of play, culture and environment.
“These games are essential to see how they progress between now and the start of the season.
“The level of the opposition with Newcastle, Hearts and St Mirren when we get away to Scotland is good as well as a number of men’s teams down here.
“It’s a good mix and we have a good mix now with the blend of players who have come through the Academy and new ones we have picked up which makes us look strong.”

TNS (H) - Saturday 6th July at venue TBC
Haughmond (H) - Tuesday 9th July at Lilleshall.
Newtown (A) - Saturday 13th July
Newcastle United (A) - Sunday 21st July
St Mirren (A) - Tuesday 23rd July
Hearts (A) - Thursday 25th July
