Admiral Kits Launched

1 June 2019

Shrewsbury Town are pleased to launch the new Admiral kits for the 2019/20 Sky Bet League One season.

The home kit is in our famous club colours of blue and amber with a large amber stripe down the front of a blue shirt, a nod towards our home shirt of the 2005/07 seasons, and with two amber pin stripes vertical down the front of the shirt.

For the away kit we have a purple design with a subtle white vertical stripe detail on the shirt.  It is the first time that Town have gone with a purple design and it is hoped that it will be a big hit with the Town supporters.

The designs were chosen after discussion with Admiral to come up with bespoke designs that embraced the clubs blue and amber colours. With input from Sam and his staff it is hoped the kits will be ones that everyone can be proud of.

Sam and Jon Pitts are strong believers in the clubs identity and history and are keen for the clubs blue and amber colours to be used throughout the club.

Shrewsbury Town CEO Brian Caldwell has also spoken about the importance of the clubs identity and is pleased to keep the traditional blue and amber home shirt.

“Admiral came to us with some bespoke options and although we were trying to mix it up a little the most important thing was to use our blue and amber”, said Brian.

“The home shirt keeps the blue and amber but hopefully comes up with a slightly different design this year.

“I’m pleased with the quality of the shirt and how it looks, and collectively all the staff and everyone who has seen the kits think it’s an attractive kit that everyone will hopefully like.

“We think it is a kit that fans will be keen to get and one that will look smart when the players wear it out on the pitch.

“You don’t want to replicate the same kit every year so I think this design is a good one that people will like and one that keeps the blue and amber stripe in it.”

The away shirt sees Town wear a purple kit for the first time and Brian is hoping that it is one that the supporters and players will embrace.

“Sam was very involved in this and he is very particular about certain colours which for a variety of reasons are better for the players”, said Brian.

“Purple was one of those colours that came up and one that I’m not aware that we have had for outfield players before.

“We are pleased with the way that the away kit looks, and hope we have come up with something a little different and one that will be a popular one for the fans, as well as the players.”

The new deal with Admiral means that Town will have two new shirts for the 2019/20 Sky Bet League One season.  At recent Supporter’s Parliament meetings there has been discussions on kit and Brian hopes that supporters will like both the kits.

“We are in the fortunate position that we have long term support from both Tuffins and Shropshire Homes as the kit sponsors”, said Brian.

“With sponsors changing over recent seasons that meant we had to change kits and with the move to Admiral this means we have two new strips this season.

“Hopefully they will both be received well by the fans whether that be the home one, away one or I’m sure some will want to get both.

“We have spoken at recent Supporter’s Parliament meetings about how a lot of clubs change both their kits every season.

“Some of the feedback we got is that some people like to buy the home shirt in the summer and then get the away kit for a Christmas present.

“It’s important for us to satisfy the demand from the supporters and to maximise the income the clubshop makes as that helps to provide as much money as we can to go back into the playing budget.”

The home kit will be accompanied with blue shorts and blue socks with amber trim, whilst the away kit will be completed with purple shorts and purple socks with a white horizontal stripe. Goalkeepers will have a choice of all yellow or all green kits.

We are currently awaiting stock of both new Admiral strips as well as training wear. As soon as these are received we will announce when they will be on sale.
