Town will play Rotherham United in the first round of the Carabao Cup after the draw that took place this evening.
The last time the two sides met it was Rotherham who came out on top in the Sky Bet League One play-off final.
Rotherham had a decent season in the Championship last term but fell just short getting relegated in the final weeks of the season.
The games are scheduled to be played the week commencing 12th August and we will bring all the ticket details once they are confirmed.
Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts is looking forward to an early test for his side.
“A home draw is great, it’ll be a really tough game against one of the favourites for promotion who were a little unlucky to get relegated last season.”, said Sam.
“We have put some excellent performances together in the Cup competitions since I’ve been here so we’ll be looking to get through to the next round and enjoy another cup run.”
