Jensen Joins Backroom Staff

21 June 2019

Sam Ricketts has revealed that he has added Brian Jensen to his backroom staff as goalkeeping coach.

Danish born Brian’s playing career saw him play over 400 times for the likes of WBA, Burnley, Bury, Crawley and Mansfield in the Premier League, Sky Bet Championship and leagues.

In 2016 Brian moved into the coaching side of the game and joined Bury at the start of last season. He worked alongside Ryan Lowe and was part of the backroom staff that saw Bury gain promotion back to Sky Bet League One.

Brian joined up with Sam and his backroom staff on Thursday and the Town manager is looking forward to working with him.

“Brian had a very successful playing career and was still playing until a couple of seasons ago”, said Sam.

“He played at the top level for a number of years and people will probably remember him from his time at Burnley and playing in the Premier League and Championship.

“He moved over to the coaching side and last year was his first year full on coaching at Bury and that resulted in a promotion for them.

“It was a very successful first year for him and I’m delighted to have him alongside the other backroom staff looking forward to the new season.”

Brian had a long and successful playing career but Sam has been impressed with his coaching style and attitude.

“His career and the way he played and handled himself you can see in the way that he coaches and we will then see that in the goalkeepers”, said Sam.

“A player whose game management was very good and he has a real eye for detail in the art of goalkeeping.

“He’s started his coaching career successfully and you like to have promotions during your playing and coaching career and Brian has managed that.”
