Sam Jones Moves On

28 June 2019

Shrewsbury Town can confirmed that Midfield Sam Jones has left the club mutual agreement.

Sam was one of Paul Hurst’s final signings in January 2018 and has gone on to make five appearances and scoring just the once, a superb finish away to Blackpool. He hasn’t featured since and spent part of last season on loan at Cheltenham Town.

Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts spoke to ShrewsWeb about Sam Jones departure.

“Sam was out on loan when I first came to the club and now it’s about him going out and playing football more regularly”, said Sam.

“I think it’s best for both parties that he goes off to play football at the level he was at when he came to the club.

“It’s a good move for both parties and I wish him all the best for the future.”

Good luck to Sam in the next chapter of his career and we would like to thank him for all the hard work and dedication during his time with Town.
