Luke Waterfall reacts to Town's win over Southend United.

Shrewsbury Town managed to secure a win on the road against Southend United yesterday afternoon.

As well as taking the three points, Town secured a clean sheet away at the Shrimpers’ Roots Hall.

Luke Waterfall was pleased to have got the win as was delighted to have notched a goal for his team.

“I was really pleased to get the second goal,” said Luke. “1-0 is always a funny score and the next goal is always massive.

“The second goal took the edge of the game. It’s a tough place to come and I thought we played better against Portsmouth last week if I’m being honest.

“This was a massive win – there is no hiding from that. We all knew how big of a game it was. Coming away with three points is brilliant.

“It was a great finish by Fejiri to get it started. There is no where else he could have put it.

“His chance was probably the only clear-cut chance of the game and he stuck it away.

“Going up 1-0 does make a massive difference, we all saw that last week. To grab a goal makes it all easier.”

Luke was pleased his side managed to earn a clean sheet against the hosts and hopes to see this form carried into the next fixture.

“It’s always nice to chip in with a goal, but I was more delighted with the clean sheet,” said the defender.

“Getting the clean sheet gives us a platform to go and win games, so we were delighted with that.

“It’s a massive win today and hopefully this will give us the momentum to go into the last games strongly.

“It’s always massive to get a clean sheet and the Gaffer is massive on them. It’s a platform to build from and you only need to win the game 1-0 then.

“I’m pleased for Jonathan Mitchell too on his full debut. He did brilliantly with what he had to do.”
