Shaun Whalley Post AFC Wimbledon

3 March 2019

Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon.

Shrewsbury Town extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 0-0 draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Town were very competitive during the game and would have been frustrated not to have taken the win.

Shaun Whalley was pleased with the win but feels his team deserved more from the game.

“I thought we were the better team throughout the game,” said Town’s winger.

“They had a couple of good chances like us but it didn’t really fall for us.

“If we had put one of our chances it away it would have been a totally different game.

“They would have needed to come out at us and I am sure we would have been able to pick them off a lot easier.

“It was just one of those games but we are five unbeaten now with three draws and two wins, so onwards and upwards.

“Tyrese had a couple chances and his left foot is really good but he didn’t get a hold of it like he would have wanted.

“If it had got to one nil, it would have been a totally different game.”

Shaun was also pleased with the clean sheet having played in a more defensive role against the Dons.

“Yeah it was pleasing for me as well because I played a little bit further back,” said Shaun.

“We have consecutive ones now and we are five unbeaten. We have got to stay positive and keep trying to win as many as possible.

“I am enjoying playing a little bit further back. They have all been different games.

“The gaffer doesn’t want me to sit in the back five, he wants me to get forward and I can do that.

“If I play right wing I am always getting back anyway, so it’s not been a problem.”
