Greg Docherty picks up the most prestigious award of the night.
Greg Docherty was awarded the Montgomery Waters Player of The Season. Over a thousand Town fans from across the world voted for Docherty as their player of the season. Docherty has had an excellent season-long loan from his boyhood club Rangers. Greg provided some memorable moments for the club including 10 goals that proved pivotal to Town's survival in Sky Bet League One.
After the awards ceremony, Docherty caught up with Shrewsweb and expressed his delight to have received the award.
"Yes it's massive," said Greg. "I'm a bit overwhelmed to be honest. Being a loan player coming down from Rangers, if i looked back at where I was at the start of the season I'd have bitten your hand off a million times to have this kind of season.
"I'm extremely grateful for everyone that voted.
"When I came down here it was the complete unknown for me, walking into that dressing room for the first time. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I wanted to get out of the bubble of Scotland where everyone knows who I am and start a blank canvas, show everyone what I'm capable of and hopefully I've been able to do that.
"When I came here I felt mature, but I feel I've matured a great deal more than I thought I could. I'm 22 and approaching nearly 200 games, a big chunk of that is to do with this club. It's been a massive part of my development and I'll always be eternally grateful for that.
"Everyone has been so welcoming and kind since my arrival. My family love it here as well. I'll definitely be back whenever I can.
"It's been a fantastic club for me and my development. I'm so happy about my decision to come here."
