James Bolton wins Goal of The Season for his thunderbolt strike against Stoke City.
James Bolton won Reach Digital Goal Telecoms Goal of The Season for his incredible strike against Stoke City in the historic FA Cup third round replay which saw Town come back from two goals down to win the game 2-3.
Bolton spoke to Shrewsweb after the awards and explained how honoured he was to pick up the prestigious award.
“Yeah it was brilliant,” said James. “Obviously the whole occasion with the game, securing the win and the personal attachment for me with being a Stoke fan. I’ve never won an award like that so it was really special.
“I don’t score many of them, they don’t happen every week so for me to score a goal like that against the team I support, the gods were obviously looking over me.
“The ball seemed to go so slow after I struck it but I thought I hit it well and it just seemed to fly into the top corner. I didn’t think much of the strike at the time but afterwards, I was like wow.”
