Ethan Ebanks-Landell On Signing For Town

29 May 2019

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the signing of Ethan Ebanks-Landell on a three-year deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking exclusively to Shrewsweb the 26-year old defender expressed how delighted he was to have signed for Shrewsbury and to commit his future to the club.

“I’m very glad to be here,” said Ethan. “My agent put the idea to me first. Sam sent me a few messages earlier and a few now to say how happy he is to have me here."

Landell has spent the vast majority of his career at Wolves where he first joined the club in 2001.

“It’s been a big part of almost my whole life. I’ve been there since I was 8 years old to now where I’m 26. There’s been some ups and downs but it’s been mostly good.

“It’s good to have a new home. I’ve been on loan for the last three seasons. When you’re on loan you’re invested in the club but obviously, it’s not your club you’re always going back to your parent club, so it’s good to have a new start and a new chapter."

Ethan was pleased to be offered a three-year deal which allows him to commit his future to the club.

“Everyone says 30 is the scary age so that’s where it will take me to,” Ethan joked.

“Knowing where you’re going to be for a good part of your life gives you that security and focus which allows you to just focus on the football."

Landell’s time at Wolves and previous loan spells at Sheffield United, MK Dons and Rochdale has seen him pick up some priceless experience at League One level where he achieved two promotions to the championship

“I’ve had both good times and bad times in League One but I’m sure Shrewsbury will be part of the good times.

“Edwards and Jack Price have both sent me messages and I’ve heard lots of good things about Shrewsbury through them.

“Shrewsbury just seems to fit for me like I’ve said I’ve heard great things from a few lads and I know people who have been here like Connor Goldson and Dave Davis. They’ve always said good things about Shrewsbury."

Landell is now looking forward to getting the hard work underway and starting pre-season.

“Yes, 100% I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully come back in fit, strong and ready to go.”
