Greg Docherty pre Walsall

3 May 2019

Greg Docherty previews Town's clash with Walsall.

Shrewsbury Town face Walsall in the final game of the Sky Bet League One Season.

Town will welcome the Saddlers to the Montgomery Waters Meadow as they look to fight for survival.

Greg Docherty feels the mood around the camp has been positive heading into the game.

“It’s been a nice week,” said Greg. “It should have been over the line against Oxford but it was nice to get it over the line.

“To play a team who have been consistent and in-form all season and get a result was great. We just needed the point and thankfully we got it.

“It’s nice going into the game knowing it’s a local derby. It’s nice for us to have that opportunity to finish strongly.

“We want to send the fans away with a big smile on their face. We are just preparing normally, we know what we need to do.

“They will throw everything at us so we know we just need to be prepared for that.

“We are the home side and have to take the game to them. We will go out there and try to get the result that we need.”

Greg is expecting a tough test from the Saddlers but hopes to see his team pick up the win on the final day.

“It’s a bit bizarre sitting here saying we only have one game to go,” said Greg. “I’ve loved my time here and I would love to sign off with a win.

“They will be throwing everything at it. There’s no point in them being cautious because they need the result.

“For us, I am sure we can weather their storm and take the game to them. It’s a massive game for their club and I’m sure they’ll be nervous.

“It’s a sell out, so it’s going to be a great atmosphere. These games are always great to play in. We will go out there and give 100 percent for the fans.”
