Lenell John-Lewis Signs New Deal

30 May 2019

Shrewsbury Town are pleased to announce that Lenell John-Lewis has signed a new 6-month deal with the club.

The 30-year-old forward signed a new deal today that will see him at the club until January 2020.

John-Lewis has made over 50 appearances for the club since signing from Newport County in 2017.

The striker suffered a serious ACL injury back in January but was pleased to have received the backing from the club going into a new campaign.

"Yes definitely," said Lenny. "It's nice that the club have stuck by me and given me a chance to get fit and prove my fitness and help the club achieve what we want to achieve next season."

Lenny mentioned that he hopes to be back and ready for the first day of pre-season.

"That's the stage that i'm at right now. I've always got high expectations and like to force myself into situations.

"I'm in a good place and my knee is in a good place. I want to be in and around the lads for pre-season. I'm definitely going to be doing all the running work and then integrated into the ball work and we'll go from there.

"I'm really excited to have a ball at my feet again. I've got some new boots which is always nice and it brings me back to my childhood.

"I've been doing little bits with the ball already but to be with the lads again will be really nice."

Lenny believes an injury like this can only make him come back stronger physically and mentally.

"I believe it does. It certainly did last time. definitely mentally but If you do it right 100% you will come back physically stronger.

"I'm taking it one step at a time. I want to get back on the pitch and get back to playing for Shrewsbury Town, that's my aim."
