Brad Walker's wonder goal proved significant in more ways than one this evening.
Shrewsbury Town progressed to the knockout stages of the Leasing.Com Trophy with a 3-1 victory over Macclesfield Town this evening.
All three goals could be contenders for goal of the month but Brad Walker's Ronaldo inspired free kick was the pick of the bunch.
Following the game Brad revealed he had sadly lost his Grandad earlier in the day and was honoured that he could dedicate his goal to him.
"The past few days have been really horrendous. My Grandad has not been well at all and this morning he passed away and I told him I would play so I'm delighted and that was for him.
"The goal meant a lot with what's gone on this week, It was for my Grandad who will be up there watcing, he used to come to all the games. I thought my first free-kick was better than the second anyway.
"My Grandad watched me home and away until he started to get poorly, to play the game and score a goal like that it meant everything."
Brad talked through his technique which many compared to Cristiano Ronaldo.
"I mean, I've practiced it for quite a while now in training, I don't do a lot I just slap it with the side of my foot really and the ball just moves and moves, sometimes they go into row Z and sometimes they trouble the keeper, the second free kick today I caught it perfectly."
Brad briefly gave his reaction to the game itself.
"The game was like to Newcastle game before going into the international break, for myself especially I haven't been playing so it was good for me to get a run out and put myself in the mix for the cup game on Tuesday night. I thought the lads adapted really well to the surroundings tonight.
"The way we adapted ourselves for the game leading up was excellent, to go out and put in a performance like that was second to none was class."
