Donald Love Pre Peterborough

4 November 2019

Donald Love talks to Shrewsweb ahead of Town’s home fixture against Peterborough United on Tuesday evening.

Love reflects on Saturday’s defeat. “I think we were unlucky in the end. One free-kick undone us. The first time we didn’t win the second ball, they got onto it and in the end that was the goal that punished us, but I think we had the chances and we were the better team.”

After a solid team performance against top of the league Wycombe, it should give Love and Town a lot of confidence going into Tuesday’s fixture. “Confidence is high at the minute; everyone knows their jobs they need to do. We were on a good run until the weekend and hopefully we shouldn’t let it hurt us too much, but we can use that hurt and take it into tomorrow and get the win.”

Peterborough currently have three players inside the top 5 leading goal scorers in League One. “We're definitely confident that we can stop them. Hopefully, if they come and attack and leave spaces, we can exploit that and get at them like we know we can.”

Town will look to push for three points tomorrow night. “I think in the league it’ll give us a good statement that people can come and not push us over and we can take games to them and it’ll look good on the league table if we get the result.”

Donald signed for Town from Sunderland; he shared his thoughts about playing against his former club. “Everyone likes to prove people wrong and it was a good one for me and definitely for the lads and it was a good one for us to prove a point to show that we can beat the big teams when they come here and we can do it away as well. I think Sunderland had a lot of possession but hopefully tomorrow we can keep the ball and imprint our style on the game.”

Love is getting a lot game time here at Shrewsbury and seems to be loving playing for the club. Love shares his thoughts. “It’s nice to feel wanted and it’s nice to be playing every game and the fans have been good and hopefully they can keep coming in numbers supporting us and we can keep giving them some good results.”
