Fresh Ego Kid

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

In 2011 while playing for Shrewsbury Town, Marvin Morgan had the idea to start his own fashion brand.

Fresh Ego Kid was born in a flat close by to Shrewsbury railway station and has now grown into one of the most recognisable fashion brands around.

The company has continued to grow, and their hats and clothes are seen all over with many high profile footballers and celebrities happy to be seen out and about in Fresh Ego Kid.

Marvin has recently been back to the Montgomery Waters Meadow to film some short films that tell the story of FEK as they approach their 10th anniversary.

IFollow Shrews sat down with Marvin to look back at the journey that started here in Shrewsbury.

"It's kinda emotional to come back here, it's like walking through, and this is where it all started", said Marvin.

"I was talking to Terry (Gornell) the other day, and he said he remembered when my flat was filled with all the boxes.

"I remember Wright, Joe Jacobson, Jon, Connor having to help me to go to the post office to post all the first orders.

"When I look back it is very positive, I made a lot of mistakes along the way, but you live, and you learn."

The Fresh Ego Kid journey has been an interesting one since Marvin gave up professional football. A footballers career can be a short one, and for many, it can be a tough transition.

"I'm really thankful for the opportunity I had to play here, to make friends, as that has gone on to help Fresh Ego Kid", said Marvin.

"It is a journey that has taken a lot of people, footballers your life begins when you retire from professional football.

"Life can be so difficult after football, and I don't think fans, and probably players, understand that until they retire.

"I'm doing a lot of stuff with the PFA to try and help players to make that transition as smooth as possible,

"Fresh Ego Kid currently sits in JD Sports, Foot Locker, that type of space and I have to look how Fresh Ego Kid goes from here.

"Working with New Era, with X Box, it still seems crazy we have done a collaboration with Microsoft, and I've got to be inspired to where we go next."

A new development for Fresh Ego Kid is the upcoming launch of Fresh Ego FC. The team will be made up of footballers and celebrities, but it will be aiming to push some positive messages.

"Fresh Ego FC is another thing that allows us to give something back", said Marvin.

"With it, we have pushed that it stands for something, so the three main aims are mental health in football, life after football and racism in football.

"We are doing workshops to make awareness of those issues, as a fan do you care when a player leaves your club, and he can't get a club?

"He's then in a different mental mind-set, he needs to provide for his family, put his body on the line and has no idea what to do if he can't get a contract.

"When you say professional football people think of Harry Kane, they don't think of the League Two footballer that isn't on that money and is touch and go like most people living month to month.

"It's about raising awareness but also a bit of fun, we are doing everything right, our kit is going to be made by Admiral, Shrewsbury Town's kit supplier.

"We are in talks at the moment to hopefully do a Fresh Ego FC game against a Shrewsbury Town legends game, which hopefully will come off."
