Lenell John-Lewis previews Town's FA Cup clash with Mansfield Town.

Shrewsbury Town welcome Mansfield Town to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend as the FA Cup second-round commences.

Sky Bet League Two Mansfield come into the fixture having progressed past Chorley in the previous round to earn a chance at reaching the next stage of the competition.

Town striker Lenell John-Lewis is looking forward to the tie and hopes to help his team reach the third-round of the competition.

“Hopefully it will be a good game,” said Lenell. "The FA Cup has always good for the club in terms of recent history. Hopefully, we can put a performance on at home for the fans and get through to the next round.

“Our approach is never different. We go out and focus on ourselves and set up to win the game. It’s a cup game, so we want to go through to the next round.

“It will be a tough test. It doesn’t matter what team we are playing or what league position they are in – it will be tough. We have to approach it right and put on a good performance.

“It’s a competition that every player wants to do well in. The next round is the third-round where all the big teams come in – you never know who you could get. For me, I always focus on the next game – you can’t look ahead.”

Upon his return from injury, Lenell is feeling good and hopes to make an impact for his team in the coming weeks.

“I am feeling good, really good,” said the forward. “It’s nice to be back and nice to be back training. All the hard work that I have put in over the last 10 months has started to pay off.

“I got minutes in my legs from the reserve game. It was nice to get through it, mentally and physically. Hopefully, I can just kick on now.

"I want to kick on now. We have a good team and are in a good position, the lads are playing very well. For me, I am fit now and now I have a chance to get into the team.”
