Sam Signs For Super Blues

8 November 2019

Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts is the latest to sign up and join the Super Blues. Sam joins over 500 supporters who are already members of the clubs major fundraising group.

The Super Blues organisation has been in existence for over 20 years raising thousands of pounds towards a wide range of items such as improvements to the training ground, a media room and more recently a significant donation to help with improvements to the Fanzone.

Manager Sam Ricketts commented “I was more than happy to sign up to the Super Blues as since I have become manager I have become aware of the great work they do in supporting the Football Club with the money they raise each year. I hope that other supporters will follow me in joining up too, having an organisation who raise funds like the Super Blues do is crucial for clubs like ours.”

The Super Blues was the brainchild of Chris Smith who over the years worked closely with previous Vice Chairman Keith Sayfritz in ensuring members received some great benefits whilst the club received much needed support from the subscriptions paid by members. More recently and following Chris’s sad passing the current committee of Jill Lucas, Jackie Klekot, Roger Whitfield, David Ruscoe and myself have continued to work closely with Brian Caldwell to ensure the Super Blues continues to grow.

Brian Caldwell, Chief Executive said “ Each year the Super Blues make significant donations which benefits the Football Club and supporters. The recent £7500 donation made towards the work in the Fanzone is a great example of this, that donation has helped not just the Football Club but also Shrewsbury Town in the Community and our supporters too.

On behalf of the committee, Roger Groves commented “It’s great to have Sam sign up, I think he is the first manager to do so, let’s hope it encourages some of the players to do so too. It’s certainly a positive move and one which we are extremely proud of”.

It costs just £1 a week to join up and there is no better time to do so than now, particularly with the chance to win £1000 in the monthly draw which will be made at half time during our Boxing Day game against Rotherham.

Join today by picking up a membership form from reception at the Montgomery Waters Meadow or from inside the bar area inside Smithy’s or write to Membership Secretary Jackie Klekot at 1 Tankerville Terrace, Longden, Shrewsbury, SY5 8EY.

Or you can get the application form here - downloading our application form. Complete the form and return it to Jackie Klekot, secretary of the Super Blues.
