Charlie Catton Post Salford City

10 September 2019

CHARLIE Caton has praised his teams work ethic and determination in their 2-0 win over Salford City.

The striker scored the second goal of the game to ensure that the Shrews saw off league leaders Salford in a game in which they dominated.

Speaking of the team’s performance, Caton said; “It was a great win, everyone has put in 110% today and we worked hard”.

It was a game where the young shrews had a lot of possession and had many opportunities to score but the opening goal didn’t come until the 73rd minute.

He said; “We spoke at half-time and said that we need to stay patient and if we do that then the opportunities will come and thankfully they did.

“When the first goal went in we were all very relieved because we worked so hard for it, we would have regretted it if we didn’t score”.

Reflecting on the impact of the result Caton said; “The team as a whole have showed great character. Last week, we know we didn’t play our best, we have shown today that we can bounce back”.

Next Saturday they face Port Vale and Caton is excited at the prospect of getting back on the pitch, he said; “We know Port Vale will be a similar team to Salford, the lads will keep working together throughout the week and we need to carry this on”.ENDS.
