ACADEMY: Match Preview Port Vale U18

13 September 2019

The U18s are in action at home to Port Vale on Saturday at the Sports Village

AFTER their impressive 2-0 win over Salford City the U-18’s are looking forward to taking on Port Vale this Saturday at the Shrewsbury Sports Village.

An own goal and a thumping strike from Charlie Catton wrapped up the three-points last weekend and, head coach, Callum McKenzie is hoping for a similar performance against Vale on Saturday.

He said; “If we play like we did last week I know we can beat anyone. Against Port Vale we will look to build momentum, it’s a home game and that is important for us”.

“We have struggled so far this season to build on results, but I think the preparation this week will help us on Saturday”.

“This is the first time where we haven’t had a game midweek. We will have Monday off and then be in Tuesday to Friday with a couple of double sessions, so that will help us”.

Despite their league position McKenzie reiterates that Port Vale are not to be underestimated and they will be tough opposition for the Shrews, he said; “Port Vale are a direct team and they enjoy playing off the second contact, we know they are going to be tricky opposition”.

“We will focus on our team plan and keep playing with intensity, if we do that and we play our best then I will be happy”.

Kick-Off is 11am at the Shrewsbury Sports Village (SY1 4RQ).
