IT was a five-star performance from the young Shrews over Port Vale and a Charlie Caton hattrick helped secure all three points.
The Shrews recorded their biggest win of the season seeing off Vale 5-0 with goals from Caton, Lewis Redding and Jamaine Turner.
Caton opened the scoring after 14-minutes, he worked hard to find the space in the box from a corner and was left with a free header that he nodded home.
His second was the pick of the bunch. Ethan O’Toole split the defence with a sublime through ball which left Caton 1-on-1 with the keeper, in his current form, he was never going to turn down the opportunity and chipped the on-rushing keeper.
The striker sealed his hattrick with a sliding short-range effort after some neat build-up play down the right-wing.
From scoring to supplying, Caton set up Turner’s goal when he played a long ball over the top of a tired Valiant defence to the feet of Turner. The winger got what he had deserved all afternoon and got himself on the scoresheet after working the ball infield and firing past the keeper.
Redding will also be putting his finish forward for goal of the day. The right-back controlled the ball past two defenders, opening up the space to shoot before he curled the ball past the out-stretched keeper.
Despite the dominant scoreline Sam Agius had to remain alert producing a couple of fine saves to ensure his side kept a second consecutive clean sheet.
Next up for the Shrews they travel to Oldham hoping to continue this impressive run, away from home.
