Omar Beckles Post Fleetwood Town

28 September 2019

Omar Beckles talks to Shrewsweb after Town’s frustrating loss to Fleetwood.

Omar Beckles took time after the game to give his thoughts on a disapointing afternoon which saw Town lose at home in the league for the first time this season.

“We started well, dominated the first half. Went a goal down and just seem to fall apart. But yeah, it was tough.”

“We started really well so it’s a shame we didn’t capitalise on that. But we’ve got to learn from this, it’s not for us to panic. It’s very frustrating and rightfully so. We’ve just got to learn from this occasion and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

After a hard earned away point at Rotherham last week. Sam only made one change as he bought in Jason Cummings over Shaun Whalley. “It was a different kind of game. It was an away from home performance. Today is a home performance where you’re going to take it to the other team a lot more so. I wouldn’t compare the two but of course it’s frustrating having kept a clean sheet away from home and at home having conceded three goals. It’s not what we’re expecting this season, but we’ll do our upmost to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Town’s second half seemed that nothing quite clicked for the boys. “Obviously they’ve come here and paid us a massive respect. I think that’s somewhat we can be proud of. The only positive maybe to take away from today. because they’ve maybe not come and try to impose themselves on the game, they sat off us and made it very difficult for us to breakdown.” Omar said.

“We had a lot of set pieces that, maybe were half chances when normally we could create more chances in open play. It’s frustrating that that was the case, but they have done a number on us. I think maybe we just ran out of ideas. Like I said, we’ll go on Monday and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Town have a week to prepare for a trip away to Prenton Park as they face Tranmere Rovers. “It’s not going to get easy, it’s a tough place to go. Their crowd will be behind them so another tough place and the lads will have to get around each other and make sure we dig in throughout the week and make sure we put it right.”
