Ricky Moir

Club legend Ricky Moir passes away.

Shrewsbury Town are saddened to hear about the passing of club legend Ricky Moir.

Ricky was signed from Cumnock juniors in March 1969, however his debut for Salop was delayed as he was sent off in his last game in Scotland. His debut eventually came as a substitute at Halifax in the opening game of the following season.

A wholehearted midfielder and a real crowd-pleaser, he made 165 league appearances scoring 27 goals in 5 years before joining Halifax. A serious hip injury ended his career. Ricky worked for the Inland Revenue in Scotland but was a successful publican after retiring from Football.

Shrewsbury Town Chairman Roland Wycherley spoke on behalf of the club.

"All of our thoughts and condolences go to Ricky’s wife, Pauline and his family at this very sad time."
