Rekeil Pyke is a Salopian

3 August 2020

Shrewsbury Town is delighted to announce that Rekeil Pyke has signed a three-year deal having left from Huddersfield Town earlier in the summer.

The 22-year-old forward has been brought in to help bolster Town’s attacking force.

Having joined the Terriers’ Academy at Under-12 level from Rothwell Juniors, Rekeil signed his first professional contract in February 2015.

His first senior experience came through a short loan spell at Wrexham in 2016, which was soon followed by time on loan at Sky Bet League 2 teams Colchester United and Port Vale.

However, Rekeil later returned to Wrexham and it was there that the powerful forward thrived. Having joined Sam Ricketts’ former team, Rekeil netted five goals in his first 10 starts.

Rekeil spent the majority of last season on loan at Rochdale before being recalled by the Terriers.

Speaking about the arrival of his latest addition, Sam Ricketts said, “He’s young lad who I’ve worked with before, he’s been out on loan several times which has enabled him to develop. He enjoyed a great spell with me at Wrexham.

“He’s 6ft 2", very quick and very strong, I believe he’s got loads of potential.

“I’m delighted to get him as a permanent signing, we can’t wait to get him in, help him develop and watch him progress. There aren’t many players who are blessed with his pace and strength.”
