Aaron Wilbraham first interview

3 December 2020

Aaron Wilbraham gives his thoughts on joining the Salop coaching staff.

Shrewsbury Town Football Club was delighted to welcome Aaron Wilbraham to Montgomery Waters Meadow as the former striker joins the Salop coaching staff.

Aaron joins the Club as Steve Cotterill's Assistant Manager in his first coaching role since his lengthy and successful playing career.

Aaron is pleased to have joined the Club and is looking forward to linking up with his former Bristol City boss.

On joining the Club:

I am delighted. As soon as I got the call from the Gaffer, I was delighted to link back up with him. I know what a great manager he is from our time at Bristol City.

"We have a great relationship and having him as a manager in the past means I know how good he is from a player's point of view - I am delighted to be a part of his staff.

"The fans will know that with Steve in charge, things are being done properly. He demands respect and high standards - he gets the best out of players."

On gaining his coaching badges:

"I was doing my B licence and my A licence back then at Bristol City. I was being told for years to get them done as I was getting older. You pick up tips from everyone and the Gaffer is really good tactically. I've had a lot of different managers during my playing career so I've picked up little bits from everyone.

"I've seen football evolve on a sports science level, on the nutrition side of it and the fitness side of it. Now it's my turn to develop and help players as much as I can. This is a great opportunity and I want to do well. I will work as hard as I can to drive the club forward.

"This is a great Club and a great set-up. Everyone is really friendly and it's a well-run football club from top to bottom."
