Get to know Salop Academy players Nigel Aris and Louis Lloyd.

Nigel Aris and Louis Lloyd answer a series of quick-fire questions as we get to know Town’s young footballers.

London-born Nigel Aris is a second-year wide player who joined as a scholar after impressing during a friendly match vs Onside Academy.

The winger previously played for Watford from U14s to U16s. Aris has also been involved in some international friendlies for the Nigeria U17s team. Aris is a powerful and direct player who excels in offensive 1v1 situations. Since joining as a scholar, his work ethic both on and off the pitch is inspiring and has earned him the U18s captaincy.

Louis Lloyd is an exceptionally talented first-year scholar who joined the club this year from Connah's Quay having previously played at Wrexham. The 6ft centre-forward is a natural goal-scorer with great technical ability.

Introduction:

Aris: My name is Nigel Aris, I'm 17 and I play as a wide forward.

Lloyd: My name is Louis Lloyd, I'm 17, and I'm a striker.

Former clubs?

Aris: I was playing for Watford before I came here. I joined Shrewsbury in 2019.

As a kid, I played for a team called Prostar and some other showcase teams - lots of different teams in London.

Lloyd: I started off at Liverpool as a seven-year-old. I was there for around 18 months before getting released. I went to Wrexham and spent five years there. I then went to Connah's Quay before I got the move to Shrewsbury.

How would you describe yourself as a player and who are your idols?

Aris: I'm direct, quick, and skillful. I like to express myself on the pitch snd try to play with freedom.

I like Allan Saint-Maximin at Newcastle. I like to have that kind of directness in my game. My idol is Cristiano Ronaldo - I try to mirror his work ethic.

Lloyd: I like to pick attributes from a lot of strikers. I like twitch Harry Kane, Vardy - all the top strikers. I like to watch their games and I try to take things from their games into mine.

Other sports you are interested in?

Aris: I like tennis. When I was young, my dad used to watch a lot of tennis. Players like Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic - I like to watch them.

Lloyd: I like to watch a bit of golf sometimes - maybe a bit of cricket.

Do you have a pre-match routine?

Aris: I definitely pray. I try to talk to my mom and dad before games.

Lloyd: I have food before I leave and I get my headphones on when I'm on the bus.

What food do you eat before games:

Aris: Just toast really.

Lloyd: Normally I have pastries. Occasionally cereal. We play in the morning so it's a bit different.

What boots are you currently wearing?

Aris: Mercurial Vapors. It's been like that for as long as I can remember really.

Lloyd: I have some black-out Hypervenoms.

Any unique kit choices?

Aris: Not really.

Lloyd: I like to have small shin pads.
