Charlie Daniels reflects on Town's win over Blackpool

30 December 2020

Charlie Daniels gives his thoughts on Town's 1-0 Sky Bet League One win over Blackpool.

Shrewsbury Town ended the year by extending the unbeaten league run to eight games with a win over Blackpool.

Dan Udoh was the man on the score sheet to help Town secure a 1-0 win over the Seasiders at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

As well as the win, Salop secured another clean sheet against an inform Blackpool. Town defender Charlie Daniels was pleased with the win and gave his thoughts following the match.

On the result:

“We are really pleased, especially with the clean sheet. Our foundation these last few weeks has been about keeping clean sheets and nicking a goal. I was pleased Dan got his goal tonight because he works so hard for the team.

“Unfortunately, Ollie (Norburn) missed the penalty but we were there to scoop it up and that’s what the good teams do. I think we are showing how far we have come in the last few weeks and showing the mentality of the team. We are seeing games out and we have to just take it one game at a time.

“It was really nice especially with the fans in. To send them home happy with three points is a really good feeling."

On the first month under Steve Cotterill:

“It has been a good run and we haven’t lost in the league. The Gaffer is getting us organised and getting us to play the way he wants us to play. He’s getting his ideas and his thoughts across and the lads are responding really well.

“You have to take one game at a time. We will get rested now and just look forward to Crewe on Saturday”.

On his time at Shrewsbury Town so far this season:

“I’m really enjoying it. I owe a lot to the Club and the previous manager for bringing me here. They had faith in me and gave me an opportunity to play again, and I am forever grateful for that.

“Football was taken away from me for longer than I expected. The rehab after my injury went well and I have played a lot of games in a short space of time and I feel good so I am really happy about that."
