Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's win over Lincoln City

16 December 2020

Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One away win over Lincoln City.

Shrewsbury Town secured another three points on the road with a victory over Lincoln City at Sincil Bank.

The Shrews netted early on in the first half through Shaun Whalley and Steve Cotterill’s men saw the game out to take all three points back to Shropshire.

Whalley was delighted to have netter for Salop but was thrilled to have helped the Shrews secure another three points.

On the result:

"It wasn't just me who won the match, it was all of the lads. Everyone worked so hard to keep the clean sheet and full credit to the lads. Lincoln is going to be a tough place to go for any team.

"Lincoln are a good side and they've played some good football this season but it was our night. Me and Dan were stood off the centre halves and he didn't hit it very hard - I got onto the ball and struck it into the gap.

"Dan worked hard and all of the lads worked hard. It was a good team performance. We got the three points because everyone worked so hard."

Working with Steve Cotterill:

"He has been really good since he came in. You can see that with us beating top of the league and then second. It has been a good start but we need to keep going.

"It's pointless winning the odd game, we need to keep going. There has to be more to come from us. We have another game on Saturday and we need to win that as well.

"You can't beat two better teams than first and second in the league and we go into the Sunderland game knowing it's going to be a hard game. I am just gutted the fans can't be there."
