Steve Cotterill reflects on Town's draw with Wigan Athletic

Steve Cotterill reflects on Town's 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

Shrewsbury Town’s afternoon in Wigan ended with Steve Cotterill’s men earning a point on the road.

A Latics goal from Will Keane was cancelled out by Shaun Whalley’s effort in the second period as both teams earned a draw.

Town’s Manager was pleased with the Salop performance and feels his team can take a number of positives away from the fixture.

On the result:

In the second half, we deserved all three points. It was a bit of a slow start to that half with us conceding the penalty. I thought towards the end of the game, we were the team in the ascendancy. We were the team that were looking for the winning goal.

"With 30 minutes to go, I think they would have taken the draw if you offered it to them. Our goal came from a great move. It was a great turn and a great finish - we were delighted with that. I would have been happy with a scrappy goal for the second.

"There are lots of positives we can take from today. It was a different challenge for us going a goal down. I saw lots of positives in us today. I was as pleased with this draw, as I have been with any of the wins. We could have done better for the first 35 seconds of the second half.

"Today, we deserved all three but are leaving with a point. Good teams at the end of the season are there because they are consistent. The lads were more than good for the point."
