Dave Edwards pre Bristol Rovers

28 February 2020

Dave Edwards previews Town's Sky Bet League One clash with Bristol Rovers.

Shrewsbury Town are back on the road this weekend as Sam Ricketts men take on Bristol Rovers’ at the Memorial Stadium.

Town will be searching for three points after losing out to an injury-time goal from Tranmere Rovers in the last Sky Bet League One fixture.

Town midfielder Dave Edwards is hopeful Town can find a return to winning ways against Rovers but expects a tough test from the home side.  He said: “I was on the wrong end of things last time against Rovers.

“Hopefully tomorrow won't be as feisty as the last time. We want to go there and get the positive result that we need. It’s always a tough game against Rovers, we had a tight game against them at home this year.

“We are in a position now where we need to win football matches. We have to go there with one aim in mind and that’s to get three points. We need to play attacking football, be on the front foot and make it difficult for them.

“We need to pick up points quickly and hopefully we can do that tomorrow. We need to get our mindset right and need to approach the game in the right way - I am sure we can go and do that.

“They have Clarke-Harris who always seems to score goals. He's a big, strong and physical lad. He’s always difficult to play against, but I am confident in the fact we can deal with that. We want to get back to keeping clean sheets.

“We feel like we’ve always got character and we are always trying to win every game we go into - that's never going to change. It would be better if we had more bodies available and more options for the manager.

“When the opportunity arises, the lads have to be ready to take it. The boys that have come in have done well but we need to improve results. It's a chance for those lads to nail down their place but we need to return to winning ways.”
