Josh Vela reflects on Town's 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers.

Shrewsbury Town were able to find a return to winning ways against Doncaster Rovers as the Shrews ran out 1-0 winners over the away side.

Town Captain David Edwards popped up with a back-post header to ensure all three points remained in Shropshire.

Josh Vela was pleased Salop were able to secure three points and the midfielder notes he enjoyed his debut at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

“It was nice to be back out on the pitch really,” said the midfielder. “I’ve been out for so long. We needed the win and we put in a performance to get that win. I am glad I was able to come in and help the team.

“We want to start getting wins and want to start climbing back up that table. We have another big game on Tuesday but I am delighted I could help the team today. We needed the three points today and we had to scrap for it.

“It was a good game. They had chances, we had chances but we got that all-important goal and saw the game out. It was unbelievable when it went in because I thought it was going to be another frustrating game.

“We kept it tight at the back but our keeper made a couple of good saves. It was a good game but I think we deserved to win it in the end. Now we have that win, the confidence will spread around the whole team. Hopefully we can get another win on Tuesday night - we want to keep looking up.

“We want to go on a run until the end of the season. We will rest up tonight and then get ready for Tuesday. It’s another home game, the fans were brilliant today and pushed us on - hopefully we can get the win on Tuesday. I know what this league is like, it’s relentless.”
