Max O'Leary pre Liverpool

4 February 2020

Max O'Leary previews Town's Emirates FA Cup fixture with Liverpool.

Shrewsbury Town Football Club next take on Liverpool at Anfield in a fourth-round FA Cup replay fixture.

Town earned the chance to play against The Reds in Liverpool after holding Jurgen Klopp’s men to a 2-2 draw at the Montgomery Waters Meadow in the reverse fixture.

Town goalkeeper Max O’Leary is looking forward to the fixture and expects a tough test from the Premier League outfit. He said: “I am very excited, it’s going to be a great occasion. We have a lot of fans going, it’s going to be a sell-out so I am really looking forward to it.

“Hopefully we can go and get a result. It’s great knowing that their support is going to be there. It’s fantastic that they are getting behind the club and the players as well. To have that extra voice and support really does really help.

“We have been fine-tuning those little details in training and getting that game plan nailed on. We know there will be a few changes so we are looking at how we adapt to that.

“We know of the changes because it has been publicly said. It’s going to be a young and bright team. They have some great young players and have done well when they have been in the first-team.

“It’s going to be a different challenge but it’s going to be a good one. Hopefully, on the day, I will be calm and relaxed. I will be looking forward to it; it’s going to be a great occasion.

“It’s a great stadium and it’s somewhere with a great history. We will take it in and really savour every moment. We want to get into the next round and we have that carrot in front of us.

“No one has really thought about the next round, but we really want to get the win.”
