Omar Beckles post MK Dons

8 February 2020

Omar Beckles reflects on Town's 1-1 draw with MK Dons.

Shrewsbury Town welcomed MK Dons to the Montgomery Waters Meadow for Town’s return to Sky Bet League One action this weekend.

Both teams were unable to secure all three points as the score remained 1-1 at the final whistle.

Town defender Omar Beckles' was pleased with his goal but felt Town should have taken all three points. He said: "We never get too high and never get too low. They had a few chances and have been doing well recently, so it's a point we'll take but we need to be winning games.

"We will take the point, move on and make sure we capitalise on the games in hand to get where we need to be. It's good to get on the score sheet and contribute to the team.

"I don't really score too many goals and they're normally from my head. We wanted to keep a clean sheet at home and to build on the goal - it's disappointing that we couldn't.

"Murphy did well with the first shot and it's a shame I didn't get rid of the ball in the first place. These things happen and we go again. They have good players and have been doing well.

"Nullifying them and dominating the game, for the most part, is positive. Everyone wants to win games at the end of the day. It's definitely coming. If we keep applying ourselves, it will come.

"I am sure there is nothing to worry about. We will head in the right direction. We have enough people in each position to back each other up. All of these games are taxing on the body but we have numbers now.

"We want to get our head down and focus on the league. I want to play games but I'm happy to serve the team. We want three points against Accrington, so we won't be taking them lightly."
