Scott Golbourne pre MK Dons

7 February 2020

Scott Golbourne previews Town's Sky Bet League One fixture with MK Dons.

Shrewsbury Town return to Sky Bet League One action this weekend as Salop welcome MK Dons to the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Town will be looking for a return to winning ways with a result over the Dons after Town’s FA Cup exit at the hands of Liverpool.

Scott Golbourne is looking forward to returning to league action and hopes Town can secure all three points against the Dons.

“It’s good to get back to the league, back to our bread and butter,” said Scott. “It should be a good game, they are a good footballing team.

“It’s a club I know quite well as I spent some time there on loan. I am looking forward to a good football match and another good test - it’s a very, very winnable game.

“I think we need to disrupt them, they move the ball around well. They take a lot of risks at the back with the ball, so we will have a plan to combat that and impose ourselves on the game. We will try to isolate them in wide areas, we want to utilise width and get crosses into the box to make them defend - I am looking forward to an interesting game.

“It’s important to beat teams who are around you, no matter where you are in the table. That is a factor but it’s just another league game and another three points that we want. This game brings us back to reality. We have to work on our league form and work on picking up points. We want to make sure we have a good run until the end of the season now.

“It’s good that we have a home game after the ups and downs of the other night. It’s nice to be back at home and back around familiar surroundings. That will help us go and secure a good performance.

“The cup run has proved to ourselves that we can compete with good teams. There are positives although we are disappointed with the result. We will try to implement those positives into our league form.”
